Hi, Im 15 years old and have been playing golf for 3 years. Lately I have gotten in a bad golf slump. I am hitting the ball to high and not getting the distance that I should be. Can anyone help me? Also I have been thinking about getting a new set of irons. Would a new set of irons help my golf game? Please help me. Thanks.
Move the ball back in your stance, new clubs can help you , they can hurt you as well. Go hit some clubs until you find what works for you.

If your swing mechanics are all correct, the lack of distance and extreme height can be attributed to a too weak shaft. A weak shaft produces a high trajectory with a lot of spin, minimizing the roll on drives. I would recommend trying out a stiffer shafted driver. If you continue to have the same problem, it might be a good idea to go to an instructor.

shaft will make a little distance in height but you will actually gain a tiny bit of distance, not lose it. you may be hitting down on the ball creating backspin but that wont give a huge distance loss either. a while back i had a similar problem, my shot had sort of a rounded trajectory instead of my general flat, powerful trajectory and after trying almost everything i knew, stuck some tape on my clubface and hit about 20 balls, i was catching it about 1 groove too high on the clubface, not enough to hit it fat but enough to miss the sweet spot by a fraction. give it a try, bearing in mind i use blades( mizuno MP 67) i play off 4 and generally drive the ball around 290m( around 320y) clubhead speed of 114 mph so most people still thought i was bombing the ball so were cracking the shits at me for asking too much.

On the golf fix they said that if you are hitting ur shots too high you should try to feel like the top of the club face will hit the ball first.

Hi,
if your golf swing is okay maybe your fitness level and core strength is to low. A good fitness workout to better your core strength could help to hit the ball for more distance. There are some good fitness programs and long distance guides available on the net. A good workout and your distance will be better.
Cheers

If your on the teebox, try teeing up lower. Simple yet effective

tee it lower put your hands forward in front of the club head it will lower the loft of the club and give lower flight aldo tre hitting down on the ball at a steep angle which will make it go low and then rise for optimum distance, there is also a great wizzzzz sound so everybody will tink you are great….. if you get your irons custom fitted tell them about your problem and they could fix it, im 15 and i have callaway big bertha 06 they are very nice ang forgiving but they don’t look too pretty..

Let me guess.
You use a high tee set level with your front foot.
You are getting under the ball too much and hitting with the top of the club head.
Shift your stance so the tee is level with your inside front heel and use a shorter tee.

Are you still making a good swing ? or are you, at the last minute, falling back a bit and not getting your weight all the way to your front ?
Irons? Who knows, only you can answer that….have you ever had your irons custom fit to you ? this isn’t that much $$$ ( about $3-$5, per club)…Do you have the right Shaft in your metals ? Huge !

Try to flatten out your swing. You may be hitting the ball on the upswing causing it to pop up into the air. Try to hit through the ball, maybe place the ball a little further up in your stance. New sets of irons are nice, but I would fix my swing before I bought those. A good drill is practice the punch shot. This will give you a base for good ball contact and a punch shot can get you the yards you’ve been lacking until you figure out why your ballooning your shots.

A couple tips which might help:
* Start with your hands toward your left pocket instead of centered. (right pocket if you’re left handed.)
* Follow through a little lower with your hands and arms. Make sure you still accelerate through the ball.
* For tee shots, tee the ball up toward the front of your stance more. This will get you to strike the ball more on the upswing, producing less backspin.
Good luck!
