Hi shawn,
Ive been told that I catch my ball (with my driver) on the bottom of the arch instead of catching it on the upswiing. I tee the ball up, place ball on the inside of left heel. Ive been told to place the ball further forward but I would like to know the cause and is there a drill that would help. At present I cannot fell?tell whether I am catching the ball at the bottom of my arch or whether I am catching it on the upswing. I also have your DVD. Great work. thanks Susie

Get a sony with built in hard drive; there are no moving parts in it and it will last you a long time; I have had mine now for 2 years and still going strong; we used to burn through 2 per season at the learning centre before that…(Canon on tape) Shawn

Hey Daulton! You …
Hey Daulton! You would be a great candidate for a driver fitting; go see a reputable club fitter that has a vector Launch monitor or better and see which loft/shaft combination works best for you; bring your driver too! Have fun! Shawn

Hey Vinny!
You definitely need a nice fairway wood to go with that; a 4 or 5 wood and get yourself a good sand wedge too; you can get that sw in a $5 barrel; because you need this club for the 67%of shots under 60 yards to the hole and in the sand of course; Shawn

hey im Mike, and i …
hey im Mike, and i am 17. I have been playing golf for about a year and every time i go to the range with my dad i always end up hiting the ball and it slices to the right. Now i moved the ball in front of my stance and did an inside- outside swing motion with my driver and still got a slice and/or a fade. Even when i did hit the ball straight it would then do a 90* slice. Is there any way that i couold actually hit it straight or draw the shot? And will catching the ball on the upswing help?

hey shawn! im 14. i love your videos! its gotten to the point that i wont watch any other videos or listen to any other instructor because i know that what you are saying works. so i have been doing what you said about catching it on the upswing since i first seen the video.. my driver is a cleveland launcher Comp with a stiff flex grafalloy blue shaft. do you think its time for an upgrade? and i carry it an average of 230. do u recommend a regular flex shaft for someone my size? thanks! I know you are …
I know you are supposed to play the ball off the front foot but what I was trying to explain was setting up with the club in the middle of the stance. like a foot away from the ball

You must not know …
You must not know any golfers. The driver should almost ALWAYS be played at the toe on your lef/tright foot depending on the hand u swing with. However, aiming in the middle guarantees the whip/upswing he’s talking about, alot of people forget about that and aim for direct ball contact on the down swing which isn’t wrong, but isn’t ideal either

Thanks for the great comments guys; either way works well as long as you feel that you are letting the arm-club unit hang from the shoulder sockets in front of the body and below the chest; leaving the club hovering really helps many of my students perfect their distance to the ball and their postures;

I had to watch it again. Yes he did hit it left handed.
Shawn, you have exceptional talent.
As a fellow Canadian can you choose to play hockey with right or left handed stick too?
btw Just wanted to let you know that the first video I watched was the strong vs weak grip video. I never was satisfied with the explanation of strong grip until I watched that one.
Your instructions are outstanding!
Thank you.
ps I wonder if you have any feeling about grounding the club at adress?

Hi Shawn,
I have a burner draw driver because I am a slicer how do I stop the slicing? I can only get about 180 yards if I am lucky and I have to aim at 10 o clock to get it to come down around 1 o clock and the harder I swing the more the slice is. Can you please give me a tip to fix my problem. Thanks Scott

Just like Wang1433; …
Just like Wang1433; best is to see a club fitter with a launch monitor; a good one like the vector; our Titleist fitting cart allows us to change shafts and heads at will to see all the different combinations and then fit the ball to max it all out! Makes a huge difference! Shawn
